Traders are currently looking for solutions to the four main challenges they face: logistics, settlements, operating activities and psychological pressure, with some progress already made, said Veronika Nikishina, head of the Russian Export Center (REC) at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
“Our exporters, whom we work closely with, experience the biggest pressure in logistics, settlements, business operations, when trade relations rupture and licenses and patents are withdrawn, as well as psychological issues. I mean the psychological cautiousness of the partners, which we observed in March and April,” noted the head of REC, which is part of the VEB.RF Group.
“However, we see in the last month that foreign contractors themselves are looking for and offering ways to restructure logistics, actively promoting the process of transition to national currencies. And most importantly, they are looking for new partners jointly with Russian companies,” she added.
According to Nikishina, the Russian government is taking systemic measures to "expand" logistics, including investing in amplifying the North-South logistical corridor and taking steps to "roll out" the Azov-Black Sea and Caspian routes.
The head of REC also explained how the “Export Professionals” online service within the digital platform “My Export” (the “Single Window” information system) provides assistance to Russian companies in building new logistics. "Export Professionals" is a marketplace of services, which has a whole section dedicated to finding logistic experts who offer assistance to companies in transforming trade routes, she explained.
The 25th SPIEF took place in St. Petersburg from 15 to 18 June. Sputnik was an official media partner of the event.
