Russia launched a special military operation last month with the stated goal of putting an end to war crimes committed by Ukrainian troops against civilians during an eight-year offensive against Donbass.
Almost 20,000 people, including nearly 1,000 children, have been evacuated to Russia from dangerous regions of Ukraine and Donbas over the last 24 hours, the head of the Russian National Defence Control Centre, Mikhail Mizintsev, said on Sunday.
The servicemen of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR) are fighting alongside the Russian military, who have been taking part in the special military operation in Ukraine since 24 February. Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Sunday that Donbass people have been subjected to the "genocide" by "Kiev's regime", which was "hijacked" by nationalists and neo-Nazis after the West-backed coup in 2014.

UN Unable to Confirm All Civilians Have Been Evacuated From Azovstal
The United Nations is unable to confirm whether all civilians have been evacuated from Azovstal, Deputy Spokesperson for the Secretary-General Farhan Haq told reporters on Monday.

"I wouldn’t be able to make that confirmation," Haq said on whether the US can confirm if all civilians have been evacuated from Azovstal. "We certainly hope that we were able to get all the people out as we could… I certainly hope that all those who were intending to have now been able to get out."

The United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) may conduct more evacuation operations in Mariupol and will continue to work with all parties to the conflict to ensure the safety of those who want to leave, Haq added.

"There may be further operations," Haq told reporters when asked whether there will be more coordinated operations by the UN and ICRC to evacuate people from Mariupol area. "Of course, on our side, we will continue with our engagement with relative parties to the conflict to make sure that all those who want to leave, have the guarantees to do so safely."
