The video for a new single which was a collaboration between the American rapper and English singer-songwriter Dua Lipa, has been pilloried by viewers who are concerned about its eeriness and Satanic symbolism.
The release of 'Sweetest Pie', a collaborative effort between Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, better known as Megan Thee Stallion (pronounced Megan the Stallion), and Dua Lipa, has sparked a furious row on social media among netizens who have been disturbed by the imagery in the accompanying video which was launched on 11 March.
The video is meant to have been inspired by the Grimm fairytale of Hansel and Gretel - the story of the brother and sister who are captured by a witch who lives in a gingerbread house - although Megan and Dua play it with a twist "welcoming a duo of unsuspecting men into their lair - ultimately luring them to their death."
Images include the artists burning a castle and men to ashes, Dua Lipa turning into an eight-legged spider and the pair strapped to a pole while being burned for their crimes against men.
However, some viewers have been alarmed by how dark and creepy the visuals are and suspect that devil worship might be behind it all.

Megan Thee Stallion has defended the video and said that anyone who knew anything about her ought to know that she has a taste for the seriously macabre.

She even named her favorite horrors.
The rapper also said that the visuals reflect how men have disrespected her and how she has always overcome this.
“The symbolism of the video was how when men come for me I eat they ass up every time,” she wrote, “and even when y’all go on y’all’s witch hunts attacking women for whatever reasons y’all make up we still rise from the ashes stronger than ever.”
The single “Sweetest Pie”’ is the first hit on the forthcoming new album from Megan Thee Stallion but further details have yet to be revealed.
