Anti-War Voices Censored, US Takes Sharp Turn on Venezuela Amid Russia Conflict, Western Nations Bolster Nazis In Ukraine
In this episode of By Any Means Necessary, hosts Sean Blackmon and Jacquie Luqman are joined by Lee Camp, stand-up comedian, writer, comedian, activist and author of “Bullet Points and Punch Lines: The Most Important Commentary Ever Written On the Epic American Tragicomedy”. You can support his work at Patreon.com/LeeCamp to discuss the censorship of RT America and other anti-war voices in the wake of Russia’s military operation in Ukraine, the censorship of anti-war voices in mainstream media and the mischaracterization of outlets like Sputnik and RT America as propaganda outlets despite the editorial freedom to publish anti-war content, how the censorship of these voices threatens to bolster the US drive to a conflict between the US and Russia, and the responsibility of alternative media and anti-war voices to persist and continue spreading anti-war and anti-imperialist messages.
In the second segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Ollie Vargas, writer and journalist with Radio Kawsachun Coca to discuss Washington’s sharp turn toward a form of sanctions relief for Venezuela in the wake of Russia’s conflict with Ukraine and the rising gas prices that have come with it, the lack of prospects for these talks between the US and Venezuela amid Latin America’s largely neutral orientation toward Russia, how sanctions imposed on Russia have played a role in harming the people of Latin America, and the role of indigenous movements in political life in Latin America.
In the third segment, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Asa Winstanley, investigative journalist and Associate editor with The Electronic Intifada to discuss the role that the US, UK, and Israel are playing in arming and training neo-Nazi forces in Ukraine in the aftermath of the 2014 Maidan coup, the parallels between the situation in Ukraine and the so-called “moderate rebels” in the Syrian Civil War, the downplaying and justification of Ukrainian nazis in the media coverage of the conflict in Ukraine, and how Israel’s role in arming and supporting Nazi forces in Ukraine reveals the true opportunistic character of Israel.
Later in the show, Sean and Jacquie are joined by Gloria La Riva, coordinator of the Cuba and Venezuela Solidarity Committee to discuss the parallels between the NATO bombings of Yugoslavia and the parallels that the current moment in Ukraine has with that period, the games the US is now playing in Latin America as it attempts to isolate Russia and meet with the Venezuelan government after an all-out hybrid warfare effort to destroy the country, how this move is another attempt to solidify the Monroe Doctrine and the US stranglehold on Latin America as it also uses the Ukraine conflict to keep Europe in its clutches, and the need to be clear about what imperialism is and what it has done to people abroad and at home.
