Meghan McCain: Kanye West Crossed the Line With Clip of Him 'Kidnapping & Burying' Pete Davidson

The 22-time Grammy winner has been feuding with Kim Kardashian ever since the reality TV icon started dating Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson. He accused her of kidnapping one of their children and not allowing him to see the others. Kardashian, in turn, accused West of controlling and manipulating their divorce.

The public should stop treating rapper Kanye West with double standards and take his behaviour seriously, TV host and columnist Meghan McCain said. In an op-ed in the Daily Mail, the daughter of late Republican Senator John McCain wrote that the musician's actions would have been treated differently if he hadn't been a rap superstar and a billionaire.

"I would go so far as to say if Kanye were still a megastar rapper but not a man, he would not be given the leeway that he is granted by so many in the media and there would be more accountability for his behaviour", McCain wrote.

Kanye West is said to suffer from mental health problems and has been hospitalised several times after suffering from paranoia psychosis. In 2019, the musician revealed that he has bipolar disorder.

While expressing sympathy over West's battle with mental health, which Meghan McCain said shouldn't be treated "with anything but the utmost respect and compassion", she nevertheless said that the artist has crossed the line with his latest music video in which he kidnaps Kim Kardashian's new boyfriend SNL star Pete Davidson and then buries him alive.

"The video is abjectly disturbing. There are articles by survivors of stalking and abuse, who find Kanye's behaviour and his recent video triggering. One of my friends texted me, half-jokingly, asking: 'So what happens next? Is Kanye going to shoot Pete Davidson?'", McCain wrote.

The 37-year-old believes West will not stop his threatening behaviour towards his ex-wife and her partner unless he gets pushback from the public. At the same time, McCain laments the fact that the rapper will "never be held to the standard that the rest of us will because he is a global superstar and because he is a man".

West and Kim Kardashian started dating in 2012 and tied the knot in 2014. Their marriage was one of the most celebrated relationships. Relations soured after West decided to participate in the 2020 presidential elections, something Kardashian was against, media reports say.

The couple are said to have crossed swords after West's emotional outburst at a rally in South Carolina. He started crying when he spoke about how his father wanted to abort him and that he and Kim had considered aborting their first child.

The singer later went on a now-deleted Twitter rant, in which he said he wanted to divorce Kim Kardashian, called his mother-in-law a tyrant, and vowed to go to war with her. In addition, he claimed that the Kardashian family had tried to force him into psychiatric treatment.

Last February, Kim filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. At the end of 2021, the reality TV star started dating Pete Davidson. West has repeatedly insulted the comedian on social media, calling him "garbage", "trash", and "skete" (a slang term for male ejaculate) and accused Kardashian of bad parenting.

He then apologised for "harassing" his ex on social media, but has since continued posting about her and Davidson.
