Some people believe that 20 January is just a regular date, but in reality, it is a very special day, dedicated to a very special bird! This bird might have a problem with flying, but has no issues with becoming your best friend!
20 January 2022 is Penguin Awareness Day - when we celebrate those awesome birds! They are plump and cute, and they are definitely among the most adorable creatures in the world - just look at them walking together or socialising! These creatures can withstand extremely low temperatures, meaning they can survive the harshest frost - and also melt any heart!

This combo of photos taken on 20 March 2009 shows two "Little Penguins", "South" (top) racing into the surf and "North" (below) who is unsure where to go, as veterinary nurse Amy Twentyman (shadow at R) attempts to release them into the open ocean near Sydney. The two released penguins just spent time at Sydney's Taronga Zoo Wildlife Hospital after being found at different beaches along the New South Wales coastline, with one found stranded in seaweed. Taronga Zoo Wildlife Hospital treats about 30 penguins annually.
