Belarusian Embassy to Request Information From UK Authorities on Attack Against Diplomat
13:23 GMT 29.12.2021 (Updated: 15:17 GMT 28.05.2023) LONDON (Sputnik) - The Belarusian Embassy in London plans to send an official request on the progress of an investigation into an attack on the diplomatic mission to the UK authorities, Ambassador Maksim Ermolovich told Sputnik.
"We have not sent any official inquiries about the preliminary results of the investigation to the police so far, but we are going to do this in the near future - both directly to the municipal police and a request through diplomatic channels. Of course, we are interested in how the investigation is going on, who these people are", the diplomat said.
The embassy is discussing with British authorities a mechanism to protect diplomats after the incident, the ambassador added.
"Now we are taking all the necessary measures to bring the perpetrators to justice. We turned to the police, obtained an opinion from the NHS [National Health Service of the UK] about the injuries inflicted on the employee of the diplomatic mission," Ermolovich said.
The ambassador stressed that the arrival of the Metropolitan police to the Belarusian embassy for some reason had dragged on for a longer time than expected.
