Officials with the Washington Metropolitan Police Department were initially alerted to a suspicious package at about 4:45 p.m. local time, with law enforcement authorities later cordoning off the area for the next roughly 4 hours.Among the first responders was an explosive ordnance disposal unit for the police department, which was able to clear the package without difficulties. Officials with the Washington Metropolitan Police Department were initially alerted to a suspicious package at about 4:45 p.m. local time, with law enforcement authorities later cordoning off the area for the next roughly 4 hours.
Among the first responders was an explosive ordnance disposal unit for the police department, which was able to clear the package without difficulties. Details of the concerning package have not yet been released.
