Having served as vice-president to Barack Obama, Joe Biden and his wife Jill will be no strangers to the White House way of celebrating Christmas. However, this WILL be the first year when Biden, as head of state, and Jill, as first lady and gracious chatelaine, can be said to be celebrating at home.
Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths - Jill Biden presented the festive decorations of the White House on Monday, 29 November. There were 100 volunteers to decorate the official presidential residence and 41 Christmas trees were set up in the building. More than 10,000 decorations were hung up, including lights, in the East Gallery. And the main Christmas tree decorated with white doves and ribbons carrying a banner embossed with every US state and territory.
