On Tuesday, the Russian Defence Ministry said two Su-30 fighter jets were scrambled after airspace control devices detected air targets approaching Russia's state border.
A video of two Russian Su-30 warplanes escorting two US B-1B strategic bombers over the Black Sea has emerged online.
The footage specifically shows a Su-30 fighter jet approaching a KC-135 high in the sky over the sea.
The video emerged after Russia's Defence Ministry said in a statement that on 19 October 2021, "the Russian airspace control devices detected air targets approaching the state border of the Russian Federation over the neutral waters of the Black Sea".
The Defence Ministry added that "to identify the air targets and prevent a violation of the Russian state border, two Su-30 fighters from the air aviation of the Black Sea Fleet were scrambled".

The air targets were identified as two US B-1B bombers, accompanied by two American KC-135 tanker aircraft. The Russian planes escorted them over the Black Sea and then returned safely to their home base after the US aircraft turned away from Russia's state border, according to the statement.
The Defence Ministry additionally stressed that the crews of the Su-30s performed their flights in strict compliance with international rules for the use of airspace.
