A lot of water has passed under the bridge since the superstar broke off from the band 2NE1 in 2013 and launched herself on her solo career with 'The Baddest Female'. Since then, the only way for CL has been up and now she is titillating fans with the teaser for her latest release.
The solo singing sensation CL, generally regarded as the Queen of K-Pop, on 16 October released a teaser video for the title song 'Tie a Cherry' on her latest album 'Alpha' which has got her devoted fans on the edge of their seat with excitement.
The black and white video heightens the definition of all the tropes on show, such as her ornate manicure, monochrome outfit and unique sunglasses, and enables CL to show at the same time both her sexy and playful sides.
Lee Chae-rin, better known to her army of supporters as CL, has really had some ups and downs this year. In 2019, she left YG Entertainment, who had managed her since she first appeared as a member of 2NE1 in 2009, and at the beginning of 2021, a month before her 30th birthday in February, her mother died of a heart attack.
However, on her birthday, February 26, she launched 'Wish You Were Here' as a tribute to her recently deceased mother, and in July she signed a contract with Konnect Entertainment to manage her affairs in Korea. In September she became the first K-Pop female star to visit the Met Gala in New York City.
Her latest release, 'Tie a Cherry', is a new departure stylistically for her and is light years away from previous hits such as 'Spicy' and 'Lover Like Me' - which exceeded 20 million hits on YouTube. The video was produced in the United States by Nick Walker who is famous for working with Beyonce, Billie Eilish, and Nicki Minaj.
'Alpha' is CL's first full-length album in almost 13 years' performance and comprises 11 songs. The long-awaited full album will be released on 20 October.
