The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and authorities in Memphis, Tennessee, descended on the East Lamar Carrier Annex on Tuesday, responding to reports of a shooting at the US Postal Service (USPS) facility. The scene has been secured.
A spokesperson with the FBI confirmed to reporters that three USPS employees - including the alleged gunman - are dead following the shooting in the southeast Memphis neighborhood of Orange Mound.
One of the victims has been identified as James Wilson, a manager at the facility.
Authorities believe the accused committed suicide via self-inflicted gunshot. No further details have been provided.
Earlier, the Memphis Police Department (MPD) tweeted that no active threats remained at the 2801 Park Ave. location.
USPS officials have noted that the East Lamar Carrier Annex is generally frequented by employees, rather than retail customers.
Assistance will be provided to those employed at this section of the Memphis-area facility, the USPS noted in a same-day statement.

"The Postal Service is saddened at the events that took place today in Memphis. Our thoughts are with the family members, friends and coworkers of the individuals involved," the issuance read. "The Postal Service will be providing assistance to all employees at the East Lamar Carrier Annex in the coming days and weeks."
