German Federal Election 2021: Big Winners and Losers

According to Germany's federal election commissioner, the Social Democrats, led by Olaf Sholz, have won 25.7% of the votes.
The outgoing chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative CDU/CSU bloc has experienced its worst result since the 1949 election: they came in second, with about 24.1% of the votes.
The Green Party came in third with 14.8% of the votes, followed by the Free Democratic Party (11.5%) and the Alternative for Germany party (10.3%).
According to the latest poll conducted by the Forsa group for national broadcasters RTL and N-TV, 62% of Germans want CDU leader Armin Laschet to step down following the defeat of the party in the federal legislative elections.
