The Games took place from 23 July to 8 August 2021 after Tokyo decided to postpone them for one year due to the COVID pandemic - the first time in the modern history of the Olympics that they were rescheduled. The final standings saw the American team winning the most gold medals, with China, Japan, the UK, and Russia joining them in the top 5.
