UK PM Johnson Holds Press Conference to Announce Vaccine Passport Trials for Public Events

Johnson is also expected to reveal if the government will extend the current ban on foreign travel. Earlier, health experts warned the PM that lifting restrictions on holidays abroad in the coming months could result in another lockdown later in the year. 

Watch a live broadcast from London where UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is holding a press conference on Monday 5 April to announce vaccine passport trials for sports events, festivals, and nightclubs.

Certificates showing a person's COVID-19 status signed by a general practitioner are expected to be available both on paper and digitally.

The first event to test out the move will be at a comedy club on 16 April. Shops, pubs, and restaurants will be allowed to resume normal indoor service without vaccine passports on 17 May.
