US FDA Holds Press Conference After Pfizer/BioNTech Vaccine Emergency Approval
14:07 GMT 12.12.2020 (Updated: 13:09 GMT 06.08.2022) US authorities announced earlier in the day that the first shot with the newly approved medication is expected to take place in "less than 24 hours" to stop the pandemic, which has already claimed almost 300,000 lives in the United States (according to Johns Hopkins University) and nearly 1.6 million worldwide.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is holding an online press conference after authorising the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use in the country. The first batch of the vaccine (around 2.9 mln doses) is expected to be delivered across the US during the upcoming week.
