Norwegian firefighters reported on Wednesday that a fire had broken out at Equinor's plant at Tjeldbergodden.

No information about possible casualties or damages has been reported yet.

"We've had reports of a fire at the methanol plant at Tjeldbergodden, and in line with procedures, we've shut down output and are evacuating staff," Morten Eek, the spokesman for Equinor, said as quoted by Norwegian news agency NTB.

The Tjeldbergodden facility houses three plants, namely a methanol plant, which is Europe's largest of its kind, a gas receiving terminal, and an air separation plant.

Equinor ASA is a Norwegian energy company operating in 36 countries. Although it's primarily a petroleum company, it also invests in renewable energy.
