Another 10 workers are feared trapped under the collapsed construction equipment.

At least 10 people were killed after a giant crane collapsed at Hindustan Shipyard limited in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, according to The Indian Express.

A safety engineer of Hindustan Shipyard said that the crane was manufactured by Anupam Industries. It was a new crane, and load testing was being conducted by the maintenance staff. Eight bodies have already been recovered; around 10-12 people were working at the site.

Rescue teams arrived at the scene of the incident.

According to the Vizag commissioner, the crane weighed 70 tonnes and there were 10 people inside the cabin of the crane.

State Minister Avanthi Srinivas has asked officials to provide best possible treatment to the injured.

The yard is presently building two $3.5 billion diving support vessels for the Indian Navy , as well as four 50 tonne bollard pull tugs costing about $30 million.
