The United States is celebrating Independence Day, marking 244 years since the Continental Congress established it as a new nation, independent from the British crown. US President Donald Trump is hosting the "2020 Salute to America" on the South Lawn of the White House and Ellipse on 4 July. According to authorities, this year's Independence Day celebration will have a "different look than 2019 to ensure the health and safety of those attending".
