Three stages of the Formula 1 championship - in Azerbaijan, Singapore and Japan - will not take place in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, according to the website of the auto racing series.

"As a result of the ongoing challenges presented by COVID-19, we and our promoters in Azerbaijan, Singapore and Japan have taken the decision to cancel their races for the 2020 season," the F1 said in a statement.

As noted in the message, the leadership at Formula 1 is still confident that it will be able to have 15-18 stages during the season.
