Ramadan, one of the main pillars of Islam, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims around the world as a period dedicated to strict fasting, prayer, forgiveness, reflection, and doing good deeds.

Muslims in the Libyan capital of Tripoli are celebrating Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. After a month of fasting and prayer, many Muslims gather to pray and celebrate with family and friends, attend communal prayers and focus on charitable acts.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, mosques are closed this year to the public.
