Amid a sharp drop in the country's economy, Germany's authorities decided to reopen non-essential shops back in April. Further restrictions, including those on playgrounds, museums and churches, were dropped by early May.

Berlin's iconic TV tower at Alexanderplatz reopens to the public this Friday, following a two-month-long coronavirus lockdown.

Nevertheless, visitors will have to book their visits online; they are limited to 45 minutes for the observation platform and two hours for the restaurant.

While only 50 people will be allowed in at a time, they will nevertheless be required to wear masks and observe social distancing rules.
