Explosion Heard in City of Aleppo, Syrian Media Report
23:30 GMT 15.05.2020 (Updated: 00:22 GMT 16.05.2020) Unconfirmed reports on social media say that the vicinity of the Artillery College in Ramouse, south of Aleppo, was targeted.
An explosion has been heard in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo, a SANA news agency correspondent said on early Saturday.
There has been no confirmed information so far concerning possible damage in the area, or the cause of the explosion.
The report came just days after local media said the Syrian Arab Army's air defences prevented an aerial missile attack over Aleppo. The media suggested the attempted attack was launched by Israeli forces targeting a research centre located in the al-Safira Defence complex.
Since the beginning of the year, Syria's army and media have reported over a dozen attacks carried out by Israeli forces on its territory, which supposedly targeted alleged Iranian-linked military objects. The Israeli intelligence believes they are used by Tehran or Iranian-backed militants, such as the Lebanon-based group Hezbollah.
