Victory in Europe (VE) Day was 8 May 1945 when then-prime minister of the UK Sir Winston Churchill announced Britain and its Allies accepted the surrender of Nazi Germany and the war in Europe had come to an end.

The London Eye turns red, white, and blue in honour of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II in Europe. The famous landmark lights up the night sky in the patriotic colours of the UK’s Union Jack.

Due to the nationwide lockdown, VE Day will mainly be celebrated online.
