Last Friday, Saxony's head, Michael Kretschmer, announced the decision to introduce the mandatory use of masks in shops and public transport as the state also decided to ease coronavirus-related lockdown measures.

The live video shows the situation in the German state of Saxony, after the local authorities decided to ease lockdown measures but introduced the mandatory use of masks while leaving hygiene and social distancing measures in place.

According to the authorities, the use of scarfs or handkerchiefs to cover faces also counts as wearing a mask.

As of Monday Morning, Germany has nearly 140,000 confirmed coronavirus cases and there have been nearly 4,300 coronavirus-related deaths, according to the World Health Organisation.
