A mass shooting has taken place in the Terminal 21 shopping mall in Nakhon Ratchasima Province, Thailand, Thairath News reported, citing police.

Thai police said that at least ten people were killed and several injured in the shooting at the Korat shopping centre. A soldier with a machine gun first shot dead his commander and two others at a military camp before hijacking a Humvee and started shooting at civilians in the Mueang district of the city, Bangkok Post reported.

According to the newspaper, Lt. Gen. Thanya Kriatisarn, commander of the Second Army Region, stated that police and soldiers are in the middle of the search operation, hunting the attacker, identified as Cpl Jakrapanth Thomma of Surathampithak camp.

Law enforcement has advised people to avoid the area of the incident and cooperate with police officers operating on the streetsThairath News reported. The area of the shooting has been cordoned off.

Nakhon Ratchasima, also known as Korat, is the country’s third-largest city and the capital of the province of the same name.

At least 63 people were injured in the mass shooting at the shopping mall in the Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand’s Health Ministry said in a bulletin.

According to the information from the ministry, released by the Thai Public Broadcasting Service, all the 63 people injured by the gunman have been taken to city hospitals.

According to Thai Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, 21 people were killed by the gunman, including one special forces policeman. Two other special forces servicemen were injured, the minister said.

The number of dead in a firefight at the shopping mall in the Thai city of Nakhon Ratchasima has risen to 25 people, Thairath TV channel reported.

According to the channel, another four people died in the mall on Saturday. Their bodies have been discovered by special forces during the operation to subdue the shooter, which is ongoing.
