A fire broke out on the Admiral Kuznetsov aircraft-carrying cruiser, stationed at a dock in Murmansk, a representative for the local emergency services said on Thursday. According to initial reports, three people were injured and two members of the crew are missing.
Eight firefighting units have been dispatched to the scene.
Meanwhile, the spokesman for Shiprepairing Centre Zvyozdochka Evgeny Gladyshev said that the fire was caused by welding operations in the first power room of the vessel. However, he did not confirm whether any members of the ship's crew were injured or is missing as a result of the incident.
