The fifth Democratic Debate includes 10 2020 hopefuls from a party contending to promote one primary winner who wil have a chance to become the 46th president of the United States.

Ten candidates will appear onstage: Senator Cory Booker of New Jersey; Mayor Pete Buttigieg of South Bend, Indiana; Representative Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii; Senator Kamala Harris of California; Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota; Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont; billionaire activist Tom Steyer; Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts; entrepreneur Andrew Yang, and former US Vice President Joe Biden.

The candidates were required to hit higher benchmarks than in earlier debates, reaching a 3-percent level of support in at least four early state or national polls that are recognized by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), as well as having 165,000 unique donors.

According to the rules of the fifth debate, announced earlier by the host-broadcasters MSNBC and The Washington Post, candidates will have 75 seconds to answer questions posed to them and 45 seconds for follow-ups - at the moderators' discretion. Candidates should be able to respond if they're referred to by name by another candidate, and that will also be at the moderators' discretion.

“First I’d say I’m sorry I beat your guy”, Yang said, adding that he would push back on Russian interference in US domestic politics.

Dems consistently repeating allegations of Russian meddling in US domestic policies.

In April, Special Counsel Robert Mueller issued a final report on his so-called Russiagate investigation and said the probe found no evidence of collusion between Trump and his campaign with Russian officials in the run-up to the 2016 election.

Trump has repeatedly called Mueller’s investigation a political witch hunt. Russia has also denied allegations of interference in the US political system, saying they were made up to excuse the election loss of Trump’s opponent Hillary Clinton and deflect public attention from actual instances of election fraud and corruption.

Joe Biden said that he would not prosecute Donald Trump after he leaves office because it’s not his job to decide who would be prosecute, adding that it’s the attorney general’s decision.

“I would not direct it, and I don’t think it’s a good idea that we model ourselves after Trump and say, lock him up. Look, we have to bring this country together [...] Follow the law, let the Justice Department make the judgment as to whether or not someone should be prosecuted, period", Biden said.

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow asked the candidates, and particularly, Elizabeth Warren, whether she would try to convince her colleagues in the Senate that US President Donald Trump deserves to be convicted.

“Of course I will”, Warren responded.

Bernie Sanders used his first speaking opportunity to address the President.

"He is likely the most corrupt President in the modern history of America. But we cannot simply be confirmed by Donald Trump. Because if we are, we are going to lose the election", Sanders said.
