"I'm not finished with politics, I'm just not standing at this election", Amber Rudd told the Evening Standard.
According to the former home secretary, she spoke to Boris Johnson, and she will be "leaving the House of Commons on perfectly good terms with the Prime Minister, and says: " I want him to succeed".

Speaking about her plans to continue her political career, Rudd also stated there were "many other things I want to do".
Prior to this, Amber Rudd resigned from the position of Home Secretary over the so-called "Windrush scandal".
The term "Windrush generation" encompasses migrants who came to the United Kingdom from Caribbean countries between the 1940s and the 1970s. The generation was named after the first ship that brought these migrants to London in 1948, the Empire Windrush.
In April 2018, the so-called Windrush scandal emerged when it was revealed that a portion of the Windrush migrants had been declared illegal and faced the threat of deportation as they had no official papers confirming their status. While these people were given the right to settle in the country under the 1971 Immigration Act, the Home Office did not keep any records of, or issue any official papers to them and even destroyed their landing cards in 2010.
