Pakistan has breached the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Mendhar and Balakot sectors of the Mendhar subdivision in Poonch district, Asian News International wrote on its Twitter page.

Troops from both countries have engaged in heavy mortar shelling and gunfire. There were no immediate reports of casualties, Indian daily Amar Ujala reported, quoting sources speaking on condition of anonymity.
Sunday’s fresh ceasefire violation was the fourth such violation in the last week.
On Saturday, a ceasefire violation occurred in the Kearni sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, a media report said.
On 21 September, Indian Army sources claimed that Pakistan had violated the ceasefire in the Poonch and Rajouri districts of the state.
Last Friday, three ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops were reported in the Balakot and Nowshera sectors between 12.45 p.m. and 8.00 a.m. At that time, several schools had to be closed due to the heavy shelling and firing from across the border.
The constant shelling and firing from damaged houses, border checkpoints, and resulted in livestock being killed.
Indian security officials claim that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire on more than 2,000 occasions so far this year, killing 21 persons and injuring many others.
New Delhi has consistently asked Islamabad to ask its forces to abide by the 2003 ceasefire agreement and maintain peace along the Line of Control and the international border.
The Line of Control is a nearly 450-mile-long geographical boundary that divides the Jammu and Kashmir region into two territories, with one administered by India and the other by Pakistan.
The two nuclear-armed nations have been engaged in several skirmishes along this boundary recently, with both Pakistan and India blaming each other for the ceasefire violations.
The Kashmir issue dates back to 1947 when both countries became independent from Britain and later claimed the region as belonging to them.
