Russian embassy in Washington said that the new US sanctions will complicate anti-terror cooperation with Moscow and that they are running counter to positive talks in Sochi.

The latest US sanctions against Russia’s Terek Rapid Response Unit from the Chechen Republic will be followed by reciprocal measures, the Russian Embassy in the United States said in a statement.

"The US sanctions against the special rapid response unit ‘Terek’ from the Chechen Republic reflect the intention either to complicate its international counterterrorism cooperation or the fear of its ability to operate in the Arctic. Moreover these unconstructive decisions clearly run counter to a positive outlook of the recent Russia-US talks in Sochi… These moves will be followed by reciprocal measures," the Russian embassy said on Thursday.
