The Indian government has granted consular access to alleged British middleman Christian Michel in the AgustaWestland scam. India's apex investigative agency the Central Bureau of India (CBI) submitted that the British High Commission had approached it to obtain consular access to Michel and that the same has been allowed.

Meanwhile, a Delhi court granted further five-day remand of Christian Michel for his custodial interrogation by the CBI against the demand of a nine-day remand by the agency citing that the alleged middleman was not cooperating in the investigation.

Michel's lawyer claimed before the court that CBI is not taking care of his client's human rights, which was rebutted by the agency. His lawyer moved for a detailed bail application wherein he argued that Michel has been completely cooperating with the CBI and other investigating agencies and is willing to do so in the future as well, under any bail conditions. The application states that the matter involves substantial questions on international treaties and other obligations under Article 51 of the Constitution.
Christian Michel was extradited to India from Dubai on December 5.
