MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Six people were killed and seven others injured in a furnace explosion at a chemical fertilizers plant in China's northern Hebei province, local media reported.

The blast occurred on Wednesday in the city of Xinle, the Xinhua news agency reported. Those wounded have been hospitalized. Two of them were in critical condition, the outlet added.

The authorities are looking into the causes of the incident.
