Stadium Stampede in Madagascar Kills One, Injures 37 - Hospital (GRAPHIC VIDEO)

At least one person died and 37 injured on Sunday in a stampede at the entrance of a stadium in Madagascar's capital Antananarivo before the start of a football match between Madagascar and Senegal, according to a hospital source.

"In all, there are 41 patients that entered the hospital including one dead on the spot and two in fairly precarious states. The two critically injured patients have head and thoracic trauma," said the director of Hrja hospital, Oliva Alain Rakoto.

According to witnesses, thousands of fans had been massing outside Mahamasina Stadium since early morning.

The Africa Cup of Nations match was set to start at 2:30 pm (11:30 GMT).
