UK Gov't Wins Trade Bill Amendments Vote in House of Commons
17:31 GMT 17.07.2018 (Updated: 19:44 GMT 17.07.2018) On Monday, UK lawmakers endorsed amendments to the country's customs bill which will allow the British government to levy duties on goods after leaving the EU.
UK Prime Minister Theresa May managed to avoid defeat in lower chamber of the British Parliament, the House of Commons, with lawmakers voting 307 to 301 for the amendment to the trade bill.

However, the government did lose a vote on a separate amendment which means that now ministers will have to seek an agreement allowing the UK to have continued participation in the European medicines regulatory framework.
The day before, the prime minister won the vote on the customs bill, though prompting a rebellion from Tory remainers.
