Participants of the congress held in Lille, decided to liquidate the post of honorary chairman, which was occupied by Jean Marie Le Pen. The approval of the new charter of the National Front was announced on Sunday by the Bfm channel.
Marine Le Pen was the only candidate. Her candidacy was unanimously supported by all members of the party at an internal referendum, the results of which were announced at the congress.
The congress was attended by 1,500 participants; 79.9% of them voted for the approval of the new statutory document, the channel said.

Last year, Marine Le Pen lost in the second round of presidential elections to the leader of the movement "Republic on the March" Emmanuel Macron. As a result of subsequent disagreements that arose between them regarding the direction of the party, Jean-Marie Le Pen was expelled from its ranks in 2015. He tried to challenge this decision in court, but lost — the last decision was made by the court of Versailles on February 9, 2018.
