Earlier, UN Security Council adopted resolution which requires all parties to end the clashes and provide a humanitarian pause throughout Syria. However, the militants have continued the shelling.

At least three civilians were killed and 15 injured on Tuesday in several boroughs of Damascus and its outskirts in a series of shelling attacks by the Jabhat al-Nusra (banned in Russia) terrorist organization and its affiliates based in Syria’s Ghouta, local media reported, citing a source at the city police.

Two shells hit al-Joura area in Bab Touma neighborhood, injuring two civilians including a child and causing material damage to the residential areas, the SANA news agency said.

The terrorist group also targeted Eish al-Warwar neighborhood, inflicting damage to the area, the source added.

A similar attack on Jaramana city, in greater Damascus metropolitan area led to similar destruction and left five people injured, including a 15-year-old girl in a critical condition, according to a source from the Damascus Countryside Police Command. The attack hit al-Raes Square and the city entrance.

Later in the day, the agency received an update from the source that three civilians were killed, eight others were injured on al-Siouf Square and Karm al-Smadi area in Jaramana city.

Eastern Ghouta remains one of the last strongholds held by terrorists in Syria; the terrorists periodically shell local pro-Damascus militants and fire at Syria's pro-government forces. The situation has sharply escalated in recent weeks.

Earlier, Russian Defense Ministry said that terrorists who control Eastern Ghouta have imposed a restriction during humanitarian pauses and banned citizens from gathering in order to prevent them from leaving the area through the humanitarian corridor.

The UNSC resolution 2401 was adopted on February 24 and stipulates a one-month ceasefire across Syria. Russia has constantly urged the West to assist in ensuring the truce conditions, despite the fact that the humanitarian pauses are being broken by militants in violation of the UNSC's resolution.
