Sabih al-Masri, the head of Amman-based Arab Bank and Jordan's most influential businessman, has been repeatedly warned against traveling to Saudi Arabia.

Billionaire Sabih al-Masri, who is also a Saudi citizen of Palestinian origin, was released after reports of his detention in Riyadh, Reuters reported Sunday.

"All is well and am happy [to be released] and I was given all respect by everyone here," al-Masri was quoted as saying.

The businessman and the chairman of Amman-based Arab Bank — first established in Jerusalem in 1930 — was reportedly detained on Tuesday before leaving Saudi Arabia, where he chaired a meeting of his own companies, despite warnings against him visiting the country.

The Saudi authorities haven't commented on the situation yet, however, sources close to the case said that the businessman had reportedly been questioned about his links to Saudi royals and top officials.

The situation occurred amid a massive anti-corruption operation in Saudi Arabia led by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, with over 200 people being arrested for questioning.
