Two Russian Metropolises Make Instagram's Top Ten Most Popular Cities List

According to the internet-based photo sharing service, Moscow, Russia's capital, and St. Petersburg, often described as the country's cultural capital, have made it into its top ten list of most-Instagrammed cities.

The Russian cities placed 3rd and 7th, respectably, based on Instagram's geotag statistics.

Sao Paulo, Paris, Los Angeles, Jakarta, Istanbul and Barcelona rounded out the top ten, with millions of people churning out pictures and video of the metropolises and posting them on their Instagram accounts to rack up likes.

The Russian cities' appearance on the top ten isn't all that surprising, not just due to their rich architectural history and beauty, but also thanks to their status as big favorites among both foreigners and Russians alike who are looking to become better acquainted with the country and its architectural treasures.
