"Oh sure, this is obviously my opinion. I can definitely see many more allegations coming up against people in power. I think one of the craziest things about this is how excusable this is for the Republican Party. Assault is assault is assault. You cannot grope another person, you cannot attack another person," Prigg told hosts John Kiriakou and Walter Smolarek.
Prigg also added how disgraceful it was that US President Donald Trump recently expressed support for a pedophile like Moore, simply to avoid having another Democrat in power.
Emphasizing the need for stricter guidelines against these predators, the Pennsylvanian said, "once someone has been accused, one it has been proven, they [the politicians] need to lose their seats and they can never run again. We don't want these people in any kind of office." He also voiced his belief that the legal system needs to change to provide more support for public defenders, who are grossly understaffed.
"I'm very glad the public is supporting these women," Prigg said, expressing that the wave of women coming forward with their stories is causing America to change how it views sexual misconduct.
The Pennsylvania congressional candidate's prognostications rest on a hefty bed of evidence — the tide of allegations doesn't seem to be receding any time soon.
Michigan Congressman John Conyers, who served in the House of Representatives for more than 50 years and is the the ranking member on the House Judiciary Committee, recently reached a settlement with a former employee who accused him of firing her because she rejected his sexual advances. Former staff members have also come forward claiming that Conyers requested sexual favors from them. He is currently facing calls to resign.
Earlier this month, the Washington Post reported that the Republican Party's Alabama senate candidate, Roy Moore, preyed on teenagers when he was in his 30s. Eight women have come forward with sexual misconduct or assault allegations against Moore.
Minnesota Senator Alan Franken, who is also a writer and comedian, was recently accused by model, sportscaster and radio host Leeann Tweeden of kissing her and then groping her while she was asleep.
