The incident occurred when a US Navy aircraft was heading to the aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan in the Philippine Sea.

The US Navy said that eight of 11 people were recovered from Pacific plane crash, while others remained missing. According to the statement, personnel recovery is underway and their condition will be evaluated by USS Ronald Reagan medical staff. The names of those who were on board are being withheld.

​The Grumman C-2 Greyhound crashed into the ocean southeast of Okinawa at approximately 2:45 p.m. local time, the navy said earlier in the day.

​The reason behind the incident remains unknown. The search operation continues.
