A number of Middle Eastern States have already voiced interest in purchasing Russian weapons.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Orders from Arab countries make up about 20 percent of Russian weapons' exports, according to the CEO Russia's state arms exporter Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev.

"We have signed a number of deals. Russia's portfolio of weaponry orders from the countries of this region is $8 billion," Mikheev told Rossiya 24.

The statement comes a month after Russia had signed a number of landmark arms contracts with Riyadh, following President Vladimir Putin's talks with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The contracts include the supply of S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, as well as Kornet-EM anti-tank missile systems, TOS-1A "Buratino" heavy flame systems, AGS-30 grenade launchers and Kalashnikov AK-103 assault rifles.

In addition, the two countries signed a contract to organize the licensed production of Kalashnikov AK-103 assault rifles and ammunition for them in Saudi Arabia.

At the same time, the deputy director general of Russian state arms exporter has expressed hope that Bahraini Prince, commander of the country's Royal Guard Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa would soon visit Russia to discuss supplies of military hardware as Bahrain had previously announced talks with Moscow on the supplies of S-400 — also ordered by Turkey that had made its first payment for the delivery of the air defense systems.
