The recent sexual harassment scandal around Harvey Weinstein, a famous American film producer, prompted famous people to speak up about cases of sexual misconduct and now this issue is on the top of the European and the United States' political and media agenda.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Around 100 famous French female writers, producers, actresses, journalists and public figures urged French President Emmanuel Macron to take measures to fight sexual harassment, in an open letter obtained by the Journal du Dimanche said Sunday.

"Mister Macron, you must at once adopt a plan of urgent actions against sexual harassment," the letter said, as quoted by the media.

Earlier in the day, French Labor Minister Muriel Penicaud told the newspaper she was also hit by social harassment, in particular when she was first employed in the public service.
