Spain to Issue Arrest Warrant for Puigdemont if He Doesn't Appear in Court
Puigdemont is in Belgium after Spanish prosecutors reportedly requested a European arrest warrant for him and four others for alleged sedition and misuse of public funds.

"He is going to collaborate with the Belgian justice. He will not hide from the European mandate. He will stand before the tribunal and we are going to defend him," the Belgian lawyer told a local channel, RTBF, late on Thursday.

A constitutional crisis broke out in Spain’s well-off northeastern region after a vast majority of some 40 percent of voters who showed up for the October 1 independence referendum backed the split from Spain. Madrid has called it illegal and sacked the Catalan cabinet.
