Sayfullo Saipov, the man accused of driving a truck through a bike path in Manhattan on Tuesday, killing eight, was described as “erratic” by cashiers at his local supermarket.

The 29-year-old terror suspect was rude to cashiers at the Farm Boy Super Fresh Supermarket on Getty Avenue in Paterson, New Jersey, the store manager said, according to the New York Post.

"Every time he came here he was always erratic or arguing [with] the cashiers. He would get angry very fast… he would break the cans, dumb things," the manager, who asked to remain anonymous, said.

The manager also added that Saipov was impolite to the cashiers, frequently calling them "uneducated."

"I feel like he was prejudice[d] to the cashiers — whether they were covered or not in a hijab — he would belittle them," the manager added.

"He was talking good English, proper, but he would call the cashiers dumb, uneducated — how they didn't know how to scan the items."

Saipov, who is currently in police custody after being shot by officers after the attack, frequently had outbursts over the price of Canada Dry Ginger Ale.

"Soda was the problem. He would come here and buy soda," the manager said. "He would give us a hard time on the 12-pack [of] Canada Dry — if it was one price he would want his own price. It was always the soda, always a problem with the 12-pack of cans. Always a problem."

The suspected terrorist also apparently bragged about his attack as he woke up in the hospital after surgery on Wednesday.

"NYC terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov brags about attack from hospital bed and tells police is pleased with his actions," CBS News tweeted on Wednesday.

Saipov was also apparently an Uber driver in Paterson, having passed the company's background check, according to Uber officials.

"We have been in contact with the FBI and have offered our assistance," an Uber spokesperson said after the New York attack. "We will remain in close contact with law enforcement and the FBI to assist with their investigation."

"We are aggressively and quickly reviewing this partner's history with Uber, and at this time we have not identified any related concerning safety reports," the spokesperson added.
