An innocent product leak by a teenager resulted in her father being fired from the Apple Company. Brooke Amelia Peterson published a video of an unreleased iPhone X which went viral and caused a Twitter meltdown as social media users discussed the scandalous situation.

In a vlog published earlier this week, Peterson made a trip to the Apple campus to visit her father and see an unreleased iPhone X.

In the video it is seen that as they dine on pizzas in the company’s cafeteria, Peterson’s dad hands her his iPhone X to test. In the next 45 seconds Peterson is seen scrolling through various screens on the new phone and demonstrating its camera.

The video was discovered by various Apple blogs and went viral. The blog 9to5Mac called it “probably our best look yet at the device in action,” online publication Recode reported.

The iPhone X video included special employee-only QR codes and notes app was also shown on the iPhone X, which appeared to include codenames of unreleased Apple products.

However, filming is prohibited on the Apple Campus, and filming an iPhone X there falls under the same rules, according to Gagdets.NDTV.

So, the blogger’s dad lost his job at Apple as the company has zero tolerance for product leaks. The decision by Apple resulted in a Twitter storm.

Some social media users thought the decision by Apple to fire the girl’s father was a bit too harsh.

In a subsequent video posted on YouTube on Saturday, Peterson offered an explanation of what happened and says that her dad “apologizes” and “takes full responsibility for the one rule that he broke.”

The girl said that she made the original video “for fun because I love making YouTube videos” and that she had no idea she was breaking Apple’s rules.
