Mexico Mulls Buying Over a Dozen Russian Ansat Helicopters by 2020

The CEO of the Mexican Craft Avia Center (CACSA) Jose de Vicente has told Sputnik that the company is mulling over buying up to 15 Russian multi-purpose light helicopters over the next several years.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — "At the moment we have a commercial offer on the purchase of one helicopter, but we could buy up to 15 Ansat helicopters between now and 2020," Jose de Vicente said Monday.

The CASCA official added that the helicopters could be used for a wide range of purposes, including transportation of VIP passengers, ambulance flights, as well as for fire fighting activities.

The website of the Russian Helicopters company, which produces Ansat, says the helicopters can be used to carry goods and passengers, as well as for surveillance purposes, search and rescue missions, and medical evacuation. The Ansat model can be also re-equipped easily for a wide range of missions.

Mexico is one of the largest purchasers of Russian helicopters and equipment in Latin America. The Mexican pilots highly appreciate the technical features of Russian hovering machines. According to the Russian Helicopters company, hundreds of Russian-made helicopters are currently in operation in Latin America and the Caribbean.
