Daesh Militants Fleeing Deir ez-Zor Residential Areas as City Getting Encircled
16:40 GMT 10.10.2017 (Updated: 17:09 GMT 10.10.2017) As the Syrian armed forces continue their offensive against Daesh terrorists in the Deir ez-Zor province, the militants are trying to leave the city for fear of being surrounded, a source familiar with the situation told Sputnik.
DEIR EZ-ZOR (Sputnik) — The groups of terrorists are moving in the direction of Al Bukamal, a city located in southeastern Syria on the border with Iraq.
"Small convoys of off-road vehicles and failed attempts to cross the Euphrates river from the western to the eastern bank by means of waterborne platforms were detected," the source said.

According to the source, government forces
are continuing the offensive from several directions and a number of villages along the Euphrates have been cleared of jihadists.
Terrorists are suffering huge losses inside the city as the Syrian army expands its offensive with the support of the Russian Aerospace Forces, the source added.
Earlier in the day, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that Russian warplanes had delivered over 180 strikes against terrorists in Syria over the past 24 hours, killing about 70 militants near Mayadin and 34 militants near the village of Hatla, where a Daesh command post is located.
