The robust and practical robot is 1.68 meters (5.5 feet) tall and weighs 85 kilograms (187 pounds). E2-DR can handle real disasters: it is dustproof, splashproof and able to operate between —10 and 40 °C. The machine with a 1000-Wh lithium-ion battery, which gives it a 90-minute operating time, is capable of passing through closed doors along corridors, moving in narrow spaces and upon scattered debris, using pipes, stairs and stepladders etc.
The E2-DR also has a strong vision: on its head, there are two rotating laser rangefinders, a monocular camera with a synchronized LED flash, a SR4000 time of flight camera and a stereo camera combined with an infrared light projector. There are also cameras and a 3D sensor on each of the hands.
