Saudi Security Forces Report Daesh Terrorist Cell Elimination in Riyadh

The Saudi Presidency of State Security announced that the security forces have dismantled a terrorist cell linked to Daesh.

DUBAI (Sputnik) — The Saudi security forces have dismantled a terrorist cell linked to the Islamic State group (IS or Daesh in Arabic) in the capital, Riyadh, according to a statement by released the Presidency of State Security on Thursday.

"The security services succeeded in dismantling an IS cell in Riyadh, eliminating three hideouts, as a result of the operation. Two terrorists were killed, five people were detained," the statement said.

According to the statement, weapons and explosive substances were discovered in terrorist hideouts.

"A terrorist cell was trying to organize suicide attacks on two buildings of the Defense Ministry in Riyadh," the security service added.

The Presidency of State Security also mentioned that two citizens of Yemen were among cell members.

Since 2015 Saudi Arabia has been leading the Islamic Military Alliance to Fight Terrorism, an anti-terrorist coalition of Muslim nations, formed around fight against Daesh.
